Pivot is a web-based tool to help you maintain dynamic sites, like weblogs or online journals. Pivot is released under the GPL so it is completely free to use. It is written in PHP, and does not require additional libraries or databases to function.

In the column on the right you can find downloads, as well as the online documentation. Please refrain from using the 'comments' on this page to ask questions about Pivot. You are much more likely to be helped, if you ask your questions in the Forum.

Pivot Sponsors Local Youth

Saturday 25 November 2006 at 05:33 am

Kyle GordonPivotlog.net has sponsored a local youth, Kyle Gordon! Kyle is a 9 year old goaltender for the Western Valley Atom AAA Spartans hockey team. When asked what he wanted to do when he grows up Kyle told us, “I want to be an NHL goaltender!”. Having played hockey since 2002 we are sure that Kyle is well on his way to his dream and wish him nothing but success. Kyle’s favorite hockey team is the Boston Bruins and his favorite player, Patrick Roy.

Our sponsorship offsets the cost of Kyle’s team jerseys ans also goes toward other team expenses as well. Kyle will be wearing PIVOTLOG.NET on the back of his hockey jersey this season and we will post a picture of him wearing the Pivot name as soon as we can get one!

The pics are here!

Pivot 1.40 Beta 2..

Tuesday 14 November 2006 at 1:44 pm

We’ve released Pivot 1.40 beta 2. Please note that this is a beta release, so it might contain smaller or larger bugs. If you’re not comfortable using beta software please wait a short while until we can release 1.40 final as a stable release.

The major things that are new in this version are:

If you're new to Pivot you should get the full version below and read here on how to get started.

There are two upgraders. One for if you're upgrading any version from 1.0 to 1.30 RC, and one for upgrading 1.30 final and higher. If you're currently running 1.40 beat 1, you can use the latter.

If you're upgrading follow these steps:

  • Get the updater that's appropriate for what you're running currently.
  • Extract the files on your computer.
  • Make a backup of your website. (really)
  • Upload all the files overwriting the ones already present.
  • Download the upgradechecks tool, unzip it, and upload to your pivot folder.
  • Open pivot/upgradechecks.php in your browser and see if you have to make any changes.
  • Log in to your Pivot, and do the following:
    • Rebuild the index.
    • Go to Administration » Weblogs, and click through your weblog so, the weblog configuration is updated.
    • Add [[thickbox:head]] to the <head> section of your templates, if you want to use the new thickbox popups.
    • Rebuild all pages.
  • Enjoy your brand-new Pivot!
Alternatively you can use our Pivot Setup script, which takes care of the installation/upgrading. Read about it here: Pivot Setup.

The Files are here, on our Sourceforge page:
If sourceforge isn't working as it should, you can also get the files here.

As you can see above we have new Default Templates. And they're very slick, if we say so ourselves. Here are three screenshots of different portions of the templates:

You can see the templates in action here: pivotlog.net/templates/
There are two variants, a two column layout and a three column layout. And they come in three different color schemes.

Tip: We've heard about people (mainly on OSX) who've had their FTP programs wipe the folders clean before uploading. Make sure that doesn't happen to you. And if it does, you'll be glad you made that backup like we told you to.
